From Daily Zen:

What is your center, i.e. what is the one thing you can always come back to that will get you focused, calm, thinking clearly, etc. This can be anything. It could be a book, an action (meditation), talking to someone, etc.

There is nothing that will always do it. But under normal circumstances:

(1) Reading any of the Dorothy Dunnett books about Lymond
(2) Doing yoga
(3) Walking

When I made my list of 'what's on my walls', I left off everything on the wall behind me. Oops. I also left off the clock on the wall above the Suzan Lovett picture of Clark and Lex. It's an Ikea clock: blue with green hands and letters. Not my usual artistic style but for some reason I love it. It makes me smile when I look at the time. Not a bad thing.

Behind me, I have another drawing by Arden Aradon: a sphinx in front of a temple, with his paws crossed and a knowing look on his face.

And beside that, I have a large tapestry - a rug - hung up on a curtain rod. It's primarily in blue. It shows two Egyptian faces, female, almost nose to nose. It's called "The Sisters Jihan and Nereen" and I bought it at the Royal Ontario Museum during one of their Egyptian exhibits a few years ago.

It covers most of the wall. How could I just forget it?
