While eating supper, I watched X-posé, a Fox TV show on the upcoming X-Men movie, X2.
First impression: that this movie will be better than the first X-men movie. Not that the first one was bad, but it was oriented to action rather than character, and therefore not playing to the strengths of the X-Men. Not all the strengths, anyway.
Things that looked good:
- Nightcrawler's bamfing. Whoo. Totally convincing. And his tail. But why does he have tatoo-markings? The answer, I suppose, is the same as that pertaining to Mystique: why does she have scales? I hope they feature something of the relationship between Mystique and Nightcrawler.
- Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. White T-shirt. When and how did I develop a passion for men - well, for superheroes - in white T-shirts? (Cf. Clark Kent.) It doesn't matter, of course. Hugh Jackman can wear anything he wants. The claws look good on him. Seeing Jackman do his own stunts was cool.
- Magneto imprisoned. I shiver in anticipation.
- Mystique masquerading as Senator Kelly. I love shape-changers, especially when they are anarchistic impostors.
- Colossus changing from normal to metallic. Gorgeous.
- There was a microsecond of Roque doing acrobatics where I thought she looked... okay. Well, mostly okay. Well, actually, damn good, which is amazing, because she horrified and appalled me in the first movie.
- Jean Grey: gorgeous. Sexy.
- Mystique - kissing Wolverine? My goodness!
Things that didn't look so good:
- Shawn Ashmore and Anna Paquin. Okay, just my taste here. I don't like them. It doesn't matter.
- No Gambit. Well, maybe no Gambit. No Emma Frost. I wonder if we'll see Kitty Pryde again.
Verdict:
I can hardly wait for May.
