Dodecal #4: "Change of State"
Apr. 3rd, 2003 08:25 pmDodecal challenge: 144 words: "There is an accident with a vehicle or a piece of equipment or machinery. Another character offers to help. Something comes to either a good or a bad resolution."
This scenario will look familiar. The person with the accident is Lex. The person who comes to help is Clark. Whether the resolution is good or bad remains to be seen.

Change of State
Caught between the speeding Porsche and the railing of the bridge, Clark's body smashed the metal as he fell. He saw the horror on the bald driver's face, and fell for what seemed a very long time.
Even when he went under the water, there was no pain: no suffocation. He could breathe. But the driver could not, so he pulled the car apart, rescued the man, pulled him to safety on the riverbank, brought him back to life. He wondered what had
happened, and how.
Clark shivered, but not from cold. What had happened to him? What had he become? "I thought I hit you," said the driver.
"If you had, I should be dead," said Clark. It was true. He should be dead.
It was a death of sorts. Clark's life as he knew it ended that day.
The end of innocence.
