The Fannish Five, better late than never:

It's over 5

Ah, but it's never really over....

1. Is there a type of story (humor, musical, costume drama, etc.) that your show should never do again?

No. Boring answer, I know. I suppose I could do without any more mutant stalkers at Smallville High, but for type of episode... no.

2. Is there a character or guest star you wish had never returned (would never return)?

Tina Greer. I liked the first episode with her (X-Ray) and really disliked the second episode featuring her (Visage).

3. What episode made you realize a show was past its prime (jumped the shark in ‘net speak)? Did you continue watching?

X-Files. I stuck in there far longer than I should have, perhaps, but was still enjoying things about it until the day Mulder learned that his sister was dead and that was fine with him because she was in a better place. I was aghast. No, I did not continue watching. I couldn't bear it. Saw maybe a handful of episodes after that.

4. What series finale did you hate?

All of them, maybe. No, that's a facetious answer. Just as I can't think of any series finale I have truly liked, I can't think of one I have hated. They tend to be mediocre. I suppose I hated the finale of X-Files because it didn't do justice to what was good about the show and I hated the holy-family angle.

5. What made you give up on a show?

See my answer to question 3.

You and me both. I couldn't believe it after all the build up, though I'd guessed Chris Carter had been making up the arc as he went along years before. After that I think I only watched the finale, and that confirmed that my decision to stop watching had been the correct one!

I think he just lost interest in his story, his arc - everything. I watched a few Doggitt/Reyes episodes out of curiosity, and didn't like them. So... the finale. Well, I didn't like it much, either. Ah, for the good old episodes of the first few seasons.
