Happy day...
Feb. 7th, 2004 11:42 pmA busy, fun, fannish day.
First, I woke up with a story percolating in my head, and wrote it - a first draft beginning to end in one day. It's been a long time since I've had a chance to do that. I went up to
I managed to work a little on the OSFS web site, at last, and Sandi, bless her heart, managed to help me with a problem I was having with it. I wrote my new Central Mailer's comments for APAplexy, and went to Donna's workplace to photocopy that and my zine, and then we watched three episodes of Smallville and ate rabbit for dinner, followed by delicious chocolate desserts that Donna brought. I thought the rabbit turned out a little dry, but still delicious. The recipe involved garlic, yams and plenty of rosemary.
The episodes were "Perry", "Delete", and "Hereafter", all of which Donna had missed. I would have said the first two were favourites of mine - and they stil are, they only improve on watching again. "Hereafter", which hadn't impressed me so much first time through, seemed a lot better on second viewing, for several reasons, most of them centred on Adam. But Clark also seemed particularly personable, and so did Chloe, and Lex was... just as he should be, except he should be with Clark all the time, and onscreen all the time too.
The APA collation was pleasant in every way. Lots of lively conversation. Everyone seemed in a good mood - surprising on a cold and snowy night! Donna drove me to the collation (and got lost on the way); Beulah drove me home (and got lost on the way home). In both cases, I think the drivers were too caught up in what we were saying to pay enough attention to snowy road signs.

Date: 2004-02-07 08:58 pm (UTC)I'm okay with the voices on Justice League--many of the guests are people I've seen elsewhere, and it's a treat to hear them doing voice work. I cannot picture Green Lantern correctly, though, because Phil LeMarr sounds so different in the other things he's done (mostly Mad TV. Haven't watched the other cartoon he does).
The guy who does Superman, though, is a weird choice. Y'see, I know that guy. He was at Northwestern when I was. He's nice-looking and a good actor (was the lead in a short-lived cable drama entitled "Bull", and was the groom in the Steve Martin remake of "Father of the Bride"), but he's kinda skinny and seems too young/wimpy to be Supes.
Flash is pretty fine in my book, though!

Date: 2004-02-07 09:26 pm (UTC)My problem with the voices is that cartoon voices always sound stilted and exaggerated to me. It quite spoils my enjoyment. I can get past that with Justice League, but only barely, and not always.
It's neat that you know the voice of Superman!
