Dentist...
Feb. 4th, 2004 09:28 pmI got up early today to go to the dentist. I'd thought maybe I'd walk part of the way because it wasn't very cold, but there was a fierce wind blowing the snow (which was still mostly unploughed from the snowfall last night) and it was difficult walking. Instead I took buses all the way, and then spent a few minutes walking around Westgate Shopping Mall, which is near where I grew up. I tried to remember what it looked like when I was young. Some parts of it I could remember, other parts not.
Much as I dislike going to the dentist, seeing Dr. Barnes is fun because he's one of the few people I still know who knew and remembers my mother, and always asks after my father. He told me about his father in law, at the age of 87, getting it into his head that he wanted to go skating on the canal and wouldn't be dissuaded, so the whole family went out there with him. The old man lasted about five minutes on the ice but I'd say that's pretty good at that.
