Catwoman #17 is a story about how Selina Kyle tries to find the assassin who shot her lover Slam Bradley. I particularly enjoyed the meeting between Selina and Bradley's son Sam. Though I like Paul Gulacy's art - always have - I find myself wishing that Gulacy were illustrating a really good version of Master of Kung Fu again and that Cameron Stewart was drawing Catwoman. Ah well. You can't have everything.

I just discoverd that the first page's art is online here. Neat!

Why do I always like the Batman appearances best? In this comic, in Gotham Central, in any DC comic. He makes a wonderful entrance here - spectacular and subtle at the same time. And the dialogue...

Catwoman: God, you're so infuriating when you make sense.
Batman: You're infuriating in several ways yourself.

And a few panels later, after they almost kiss:

Batman: Wait, Selina. We both know this doesn't work.
Catwoman: Yeah, so? Wouldn't it be okay to pretend for a little while that it does? I mean, is it so wrong to just want some warmth and human contact once in a while? Never mind... I forgot who I was talking to for a second.

I suppose this clears up any misconception we might have had about Selina being faithful to Bradley.
