  • Read the first half of Still Life by Louise Penney. I have to finish it soon: it's due at the library tomorrow.

  • Met [personal profile] fairestcat at the Silver Snail while we picked up our comics, then went for lunch at Pho Bo Ga II, where [personal profile] commodorified met us. Lovely lunch, and I was able to stay on my new diet by eating my usual soup #13 Medium while just leaving the noodles uneaten.

  • It was Pim's birthday, so we went to see Skyfall again as a birthday treat. What, excessive? Us? We were all glad we did, and it was a beautifully clear copy of the movie: we still see details we hadn't noticed before.

  • We had dinner at ZaZaZa's, which was wonderful. Their salad (even without dressing) was yummy, and I ate the pizza by scraping the cheese and toppings off the crust, avoiding the wheat.

  • It was cold, cold, cold, but not difficult walking. For some reason, though most of the city seems to be ploughed and the snowbanks removed, the Glebe in general has huge snowbanks everywhere, and Third Avenue in particular is a mess: unploughed, bumpy, icy, down to barely one lane. What does the City have against us?

  • I made a pre-order for the DVD version of Skyfall as Pim's birthday gift, putting the promissory note in a box and wrapping it in paper made of pictures of Daniel Craig. That was fun. I'm very happy with my new printer, which works miracles. (The HP DeskJet 3520, if you're curious.)

  • I'd read my comics now, but want to finish that mystery novel first. The only one I have read was New Avengers #1, which I didn't expect to like because (a) it was by Jonathan Hickman, whose writing in the past has seemed unspectacular; (b) it was about Black Panther, not a character who interests me much; and (c) it had an ugly cover. Well, don't judge a book by its cover: the story pulled me in and caught me up in its action and suspense. Hot damn. I guess I'll be buying this series.
