I didn't discover electric kettles until I moved to Canada, and I thought they were this awesome Canadian thing that simply didn't exist in the U.S. When my parents fell in love with mine, though, they decided to buy one and didn't have any trouble finding one. Apparently they are available, but no one buys them? Definitely weird.
