I haven't tested it to see how many pages it will take as a maximum: I've done 3.
What it does is: it folds down a corner, then cuts a tab within the fold to go the other way. You can do it by hand, but the little device does it easily and instantly.
It will last till it breaks - I don"t know how long that will be. It looks pretty sturdy.
