After being in something of a funk all week, several things happened to make me feel better today. First, I was offered more temporary part-time work for good pay; only for a few days, but yay. It relieves the worry over money a little, at least for this week or month. Second, a talk with the woman at the temp agency was encouraging - made me believe that there might really be people out there who could use my skills. I was beginning to feel useless: but heck, I'd hire me in a minute. What's wrong with all those people who won't?
I watched about two minutes of TV today, just the moments at which the government was defeated. A nice moment. Satisfying, even. So an election looms. Bob Layton (in electronic form) wasted no time in phoning me this evening to start off the campaign; good for him.
At lunchtime, I walked over to the library with Lisa. It was incredibly cold for late March. We both complained about that, then stopped to get lunch at Vitae Mine, where I love the food and the wild names of their sandwiches and drinks, which I never manage to remember. I think my sandwich was the Thai Fighting Chicken.
I was amused to see that the Member of Parliament from Cambridge is named Gary Goodyear - a name which ought to belong to a Harry Potter character. I like the multicultural nature of our MP's names.
The day was incredibly busy. I worked till six, and was one of the last to leave. I bought food on the way home, and made supper, did laundry, and did my exercises is a wild flurry of multitasking - and then was able to relax and chat with
