The 30 Days of Marvel meme:
Day #9: Your favourite classic character.
What's a classic character? Someone from the 1940s? The 1960s, when I was first reading Marvel comics?
I've already said how much I like Magneto and Nick Fury. I was mad over Reed Richards as a kid; not so much now. I think Spider-Man is one of the best characters ever invented: is he a classic? Thor? Doctor Strange?
What the heck: I'll say Scott Summers, Cyclops, one of the first of the X-Men, now their leader; who went from angsty to dull to fascinating, and has stood the test of time.

One think I have always loved about Scott: he was Scott "Slim" Summers, and he is often drawn as being less overmuscled and bulky than most superheroes. He doesn't get what I think of as the Kirby treatment; not as much as most.
Another thing I love is the characterization of his relationship with Emma Frost - one of the best and most convincing romantic relationships I've ever seen in a comic.
Another thing to love about Scott: he tends to use his brain rather than physical power.
Yup, he's classic.
