Stephen J. Cannell...

I just read that Stephen J. Cannell died.

He was responsible for one of my favourite TV shows of all time, Stingray. For that alone I would honour him. But now... I think of him as a friend of a fictional friend, a poker-playing crony of Richard Castle, and it adds to the sense of knowing him.

I only watched 2 or 3 episodes of 'Castle' but have much the same sense of Cannnell - Didn't he create Murder she Wrote? Ah, eighties telly, the backdrop to my childhood.

He seemed to be behind many of the really good shows. Truly creative.
