Thoughts:
- I found myself comparing it in my mind to "The Parting of the Ways". Nothing like the same emotional resonances for me; so much more an action show. The Amy/Rory romance, though fun, hasn't a fraction of the impact of the relationship between Nine and Rose, or any rapport between Amy and Eleven.
- Humdinger of a plot, and good suspense. though I begin to fear another telepathy-gone-crazy theme like "Amy's Choice". Is Amy really still little Amelia, giving herself the grown-up adventures she wanted, with the Doctor? Storybooks come real?
- I liked the way they used so much from this whole season - references, characters, visuals.
- Scary sequence, when Amy was stalked by Cyberman parts.
- The Vortex Manipulator right off a Time Agent's wrist - I laughed. Great River Song scene, though now when I see her, I find myself thinking, "Couldn't it be Captain Jack in this role?"
- I continue to enjoy River Song and her games. Loved her prison scene.
- It had to be the Doctor in the Pandorica. Is the implication that he will be Hope? And Amy will open the box and let him out?
- Why is the TARDIS blowing up? I suspect self-sacrifice to save the universe. Or a "plugging the hole" thing like the Dutch boy and the dyke.
- Though I still like Amy a lot, it doesn't seem to me that she's grown or changed. That was the joy of the stories of Rose, Jack, Martha and Donna.
- I am aware that this reflects the styles of thinking of the two different writers, Moffat and Davies.
- Loved Rory as a Roman, and River as Cleopatra. In England. Heh.
