Watched Doctor Who: The Time of Angels again today with
- This time, River Song's hallucinogenic lipstick seemed much more significant. We've seen that ploy (or something like it) before.
- Things I predict will have significance in the next part: people either turning to stone, or thinking they are turning to stone; anti-grav; the theme of a trap - how will the Doctor trap the Angels? In an image, like film? I'm thinking of something like the film-people in Torchwood's episode 2x10, "From Out of the Rain". If the Angels can manifest out of film or digital images, then presumably they could be reintegrated with it.
- Who was the madman who wrote that book, andyway? And how did River Song get it?
- I like Bob. My goodness, those cleric-soldiers are guileless.
- The James Bond imagery made me reflect that Amy Pond's name is like that of James Bond. I'm still trying to find some idealogical theme linking 'Amy Pond' to 'duck pond'. I tried making an anagram out of Ledworth, but no luck.
- Have I mentioned how much I like Amy's leather jacket (from the previous episode) and red jumper and miniskirt?
- I loved, totally loved, the scene where she told the Doctor he was being all grumpy and he admitted to it.
- I kept looking carefully at the Doctor's reactions to River Song, and trying to remember their interactions back in her previous appearances. He doesn't seem to trust her, though she says she trusts him. He doesn't seem glad to see her. It might be just because of the time-reversal confusions, but I'm not sure how much he actually likes her.
- Interesting that she and the Bishop express unconditional trust of the Doctor.
- Yesterday,
random pointed out several minutes before the Doctor mentioned it, that if the people who built the temple had two heads, the statues should have two heads. This time, I noticed that the Doctor mentions "headless monks" in the very beginning of the episode. Whether this is significant in any way, or whether Moffat is just playing with images, I have no idea. - I thought yesterday the crash site looked like the Paths of the Dead from the movie Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. I thought today it looked like the Potala Palace, in Lhasa, Tibet.
- I still don't like the bow tie, but I am coming to like the Doctor's manner.
