When I was a kid and this movie was fairly new, I was completely in love with it. I strongly suspect that it's the original cause of my obsession with all stories that have sword-fights in them. Sadly, though, I haven't seen it for about fifteen years. It's never on tv. It made me read the books, too, and I'm still childishly fond of those. Romance...honour...clever plans...sword-fights! Yay! *g*
In the test, I was the 1999 tv series with Richard E. Grant. This is an odd filmatization, and Grant was a strange choice of leading actor, though I actually enjoyed his interpretation of the role. He added a true, wreckless love of adventure to the character which I think is there in the books but not very present in earlier movie versions. Though I *hated* Elizabeth McGovern as Marguerite. *shudder* Anyway, fun quiz!
