Fun morning: I walked with [livejournal.com profile] maaboroshi to Kettleman's to buy bagels, then we sat and talked at [livejournal.com profile] maaseru's place, and then [livejournal.com profile] maaboroshi and I did some furniture-trading. I helped her move her television, and she gave me her large fold-out table, which fits rather nicely where the bird-cage table used to be, and the birds are now on the coffee table near the window, which, since it's warmer and sunnier weather, makes them happy chirpy little guys indeed.

Wait a minute, I don't have to just tell you, I can show you.

The new table by the television:

I may turn it so the hinges aren't visible.

The wall by the computer:

I think I'll put books on the shelves, and/or cover the shelving with a tablecloth - they aren't the nicest shelves around, but they are handy. If I put books there, where should I put my yoga mat? That's something to ponder.

And because it's no fun taking photos in my apartment without taking the little guys:

Awww, parakeets! I used to have some as a teen. Such cool little birds.

They're wonderful companions, Peter and Jubilee. Noisy, sometimes, but always good company.

They are very cute budgies (sorry that's what they are known as in Australia)

It's what they're known as in Canada, too.

What a lovely apartment! Cute budgies, too!

The budgies practise being cute on a regular basis. Daily, in fact. It's their specialty.

Glad you like the apartment! It's a work in progress.

I love parakeets, but not with dogs. Or cats...

Ah the birdies! When I was looking at the hairless piggies the other day, the birds just would not leave me alone, making all kinds of noise at me: TAKE ME!!

They could be fun to have :D just not w/ my two boys :p Teh noise!

Budgies and cats are a very bad mix. I'd like to have a dog... but not in a little urban apartment. Budgies are the perfect apartment pets.

Heh. They do that. Very good at making their desires known, budgies.

True. They interact more than fish do. My doggies are dachsunds, so they're good for our city apartment. I only planned to have one dog, but... that's another story.

Dogs have their way. They really do.

I have always loved dachshunds.

Mine are adorable little spoiled brats, as you can see. And stubborn. Dachshunds are more hard-headed than some people.

So very cute!

Pets have amazingly strong minds, and directed wills. It's hard to withstand them.

True. And Maggie does love her morning walk. She runs to the front door and stands there and does this stiff-legged bounce with her front legs, with her head tilted all the way back and grinning like a crazy little thing. Demi just sneaks around on the other side of her and waits. She knows if Maggie gets to go out, she does too.

But Demi's the one who runs to the front door at night to make sure it's me, then runs around the room like a dervish, with occasional forays to the back bedroom to assure Maggie that it really is Mommy come home.

So cute! How did you choose their names?

I got them as adults, so they were already named. Maggie, since she's a piebald dachshund, is actually MagPie. And Demi, being a dapple, is DemiDapple. Both Of Hidden Cedars.

Today the cleaning lady came, so instead of going out, they ran down the hall to my bedroom--barking as they went--and hid under the bed. Still barking. They'll probably go on barking as she cleans my bedroom. She's done this every two weeks since they arrived here, but no, they still don't accept it.

Housecleaning - it's a terrible thing!

Cute names - I particularly like MagPie.

If Gloria didn't come in every two weeks, this place would be not just a disaster, but a hazmat zone. I try, but I'm naturally indolent, and I need to force myself to make an effort when I need to clean. My job is cooking dinner--D does the dishes.

How nice to have someone to wash the dishes! My dishwasher does that... the automatic kind. I love to cook, but housework isn't my best thing.

Housework is a pain. It is definitely one of the benefits of having a roommate one is friends with. You can split some of the work.

I like cooking for other people. I hate cooking for myself, so when I'm alone, it's frequently toast and cheese, or scrambled eggs, or soup. I'm fond of tomato soup.

I am fond of tomato soup, too - but don't actually have it often. Right now I'm making an experimental souffle. Usually souffles are easy to make (though they always take longer than I expect), but this one... well, as I say, experimental, and I'm probably trying to do the impossible.

Too bad I can't train budgies to do housework.
