The Price of Dreams
John sank into the sensory tank. When he closed his eyes, Jack was with him, laughing.
They ran through alien streets. They ate pomegranates in ancient Rome and ripe cherries in post-apocalyptic Tokyo. They danced in each other's arms in the moonlit plaza of Novaterre. Jack's lips traced John's face, sweet as the music.
John's life was full of ephemera, but this connection would last as long as he did. Jack and John, Time Agents, lovers, heroes, adventurers extraordinaire.
The music ended. The lights snapped on. The drug-dream ended, catapulting John back into reality.
He'd only paid for an hour.
