I got this meme from [livejournal.com profile] omnivorously. He was complaining about how heteronormative it was. Yeah... but I can change the nouns to gender-neutral things, right? I love memes like this. But this one made me feel very, very old.

Normally I never feel old. Why should I? I'm about fifteen at heart, and always will be. No problem. But look how it starts out: "1. The guy you would take to meet your parents." My mother died twenty-five years ago, at which time my father moved to British Columbia. I don't think of lovers in terms of what my parents would think of them. I never did. It's hard to relate. And this particular set of questions seems more teen-age than most. Still... I remember being fifteen rather well. (I haven't changed much, really.)

Okay, let's start again...

1. The girl or guy you would take to meet your parents. We're assuming this is a lover, or someone I would want as a lover, right? I'll say Captain Jack Harkness, just because I like the idea, and because I have no doubt he'd charm my parents. He has the talent.

2. The one girl you would do. One girl? What do you mean, only one girl? Okay,
okay, I'll just pick one: Dani Rees. Because she's so gorgeous. But there are loads of others I'd want, like Martha Jones, for instance. Don't tell me I can just like one.

3. The guy you'd have sex with in your parents’ bed: Euw. Nobody. Why would I want to do that? I mean, even when I was a teen.... Ugh. Bad idea. Anywhere else, okay, but not there. That's their territory.

4. The girl you'd take to the mall go shopping with: Gwen Cooper.

5. Your male BFF: Clark Kent.

6. Your female BFF: Martha Jones, or Chloe Sullivan, or Philippa Somerville.

7. Your gay BFF: This means someone I wouldn't have sex with, right? Hmm. Kate
Martnelli from the Laurie R. King novels. Or maybe Renee Montoya from Gotham Cegtnral.

8. The guy who'd take you to prom: Captain Jack.

9. Your big brother: Arthur, in Merlin. Or Lee Adama. Or Miles Vorkosigan.

10. Your little sister: Jubilee, in Marvel mutant comics.

11. The guy you'd marry: I wouldn't. If I can translate this as "a guy I'd like to stay with forever"... Hmm. Any of my heroes, I suppose. Francis Cfrawford. Cairo Azarcon. Aral Vorkosigan, who made a great husband and father. Captain Jack Harkness, who could be taken as my answer for any of these questions. Or The Ninth Doctor, perhaps. One could have good adventures with him, and he has an interesting mind.

12. The two guys you'd have a threesome with: Captain Jack and Nine. (Lucky Rose.)

13. The girl and guy you'd have a threesome with: Martha and Jack.

14. The guy you'd go clubbing with: I wouldn't, but if I did, Captain Jack. He'd know good places, too.

15. The guy you'd have angry hot sex with: You have to ask? Captain Jack, of course. With a few other possibilities: Lex Luthor, Spike, Captain John Hart.

16. The person you'd have unbelievably kinky and cosmic sex with: Guess. C'mon, you can do it.

17. The guy you'd most like to cosplay with in private: See above.

18. The person you'd most like to have at your back 24/7: Jack, again, with his squareness gun.

9.3 You are brave. I don't think I'd want Miles for a big brother, but it would probably be better than having him as a younger brother. ;-)

Dude. Wrong pronoun. Anything but "she".

re #3 I never had sex in my parents bed, but I remember having sex during a stay at the parents of my boyfriend. I belief it was somewhat liberating for him. (He had never in his whole life taken a girl home, he was 35 when I was the first).

I can imagine it might have been liberating for him, under the circumstances!

Miles as a younger brother would be... scary. He'd be a little scary as an older brother, but interesting, too. Think of the opportunities I'd have to say "it wasn't my fault"!

Sorry. Fixed. Our language needs more pronouns.
