Ianto plays his own agenda, and though I think he has Jack's best interests in mind, usually - or Torchwood's - he isn't particularly obedient even if you think of him as having a clean slate again after "Cyberwoman". He loves Jack, but isn't always loyal.
I think Ianto is a good friend, but I wouldn't ever take him for granted.
