I don't often recommend fanfic but I read a Jack/Ianto
Torchwood fic yesterday that I thought was extraordinarily good. By someone I never heard of -
rallalon, where have you been hiding? I liked the story on so many levels: for its sense of character and romance, and for its sense of plot and structure. And it hit a lot of my buttons. And it surprised me; not one of your cliche plots, but something delightfully different in a way that fits nicely with series canon.
The story is
Tryst by
rallalon.

Even though I'm really not into J/I I'm very intrigued...
Well, I'm not really that much into Jack/Ianto for preference, either. But if all the stories were like this one, I probably would be!

Oh dear. I mean, on the one hand, that's just depressing and I'm jealous of her talent and skill. On the other hand, I'm happy to hear that there are people out there able to write like that, and will be doing so in future.

I still haven't read it but I know what you mean. I read a sam_storyteller fic and felt the same way. Why aren't there more good Jack/Ianto fics?! I might be persuaded to join the team, you know?
And yes, it's depressing because OMG SO TALENTED!! but it's also exciting to see her develop and know that she's far from finished honing her skills.

Her "Held At A Distance" series is a lovely AU take on the Doctor/Jack/Rose idea, and"Not a Love Story" is the best Jack/John piece I've ever read. I even recced the latter to my *mom* (not typically a slash fan), and she loved it! :D

She can even get me to read something that has Ten in it
Wow!

and "In Human Hands" which is dark and complicated (and sadly, still not finished)
Oh dear. I don't usually start reading unfinished things (and I only turn to WIPs when they're done) but I might be just too tempted there.

Another good one, yes, though I haven't read much of hers (yet) and must do something about that.

Exactly how I feel. A little good writing goes a long way. Even more, good ideas - those are what are really rare.
