This was one of those days where I didn't do most of the things I planned, but had a rather nice day anyway.

~ ~ ~

Breakfast was a special treat: I went to the Mayflower cafe at the corner of Cooper and Elgin, where I had Eggs Florentine and fresh orange juice. Eggs Florentine is my favourite breakfast, which I treat myself to when I go to conventions. There was no convention... No special occasion, except that I felt good.

A funny fanfic recommendation: have a look at Owner's Guide and Maintenance Manual for Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas and Boromir... and Will Turner. Made me laugh. Even induced me to read something on fanfiction.net, which usually I refuse to do. I see the author is into yoga. Good person.

There are new pictures from "The Lord of the Rings" on the TORN site which had me swooning. Some are additions to "The Two Towers", others are from "The Return of the King". My favourite is Aragorn in the White Tower. You may have noticed that I am crazy over Gondor. The White Tower looks magnificent. I also like the tender twosome of Brego and Aragorn, a Man and his Horse.

I tried to watch the special on Nefertiti on the Discovery Channel this evening. I was with two friends: I'm sure I was driving them crazy because the show was driving me crazy. I just can't cope with those things. They are such bad history. They are full of unsupported and unexplained statements, weirdly dramatized visuals, melodramatic pauses, questionable speculation, and rhetorical questions that remind me of Erich Von Daniken's writing. What they are not full of is scholarly argument, background information, explanation of the history or the technology used by the archaeologists, or a real sense of the grandeur of history.

When I was started to shout at the screen I figured it was time to leave before my friends threw me out. In a fit of masochism I tried to turn it on again at my place, but my digital cable connection isn't working. I'll have to phone the company tomorrow.

I finished making my Smallville Monopoly game - put together the board today. A test run is now being scheduled.

~ ~ ~

I framed and put a portrait of Jack Sparrow on my wall - in the bedroom beside my best portrait of Bodie. If you want to see the picture I used, it's here. I'd attribute my source where I found the picture, but I can't find my note about it.

~ ~ ~

I spent considerable time cleaning up my bedroom. Months worth of printed-out slash stories in three fandoms (but mostly Smallville) had got themselves into a mess; they are now at least piled neatly and properly, and some of it put ito boxes. It's amazing what you find when you clean your shelves: I'd forgotten I had a Gondorian warrior action figure. I even found two action figures that didn't belong to me - Clark and Lex - they belonged to [livejournal.com profile] maboroshimaki, and there they were, hiding together on my shelf.

The trick is to go on cleaning, not to stop and read.

Hello, hello! Just found your LJ after finding out from M that you had one and were (so she said) writing PotC. Where, where? She tells me [livejournal.com profile] maboroshimaki might be, too. As for her Clex action figures -- sneaky bastards. We know what they were doing on the shelf. *g* (Not into Smallville, but, hey, a person would have to be blind to miss Clexdom.)

Sooo? Is there PotC-fic somewhere? Are you posting to [livejournal.com profile] pirategasm and I just missed it?

Hi Jean! How wonderful to see you pop up here! I'll friend you, okay?

Yes, I'm writing PotC slash. How could I resist? Gorgeous guys, a loveable rogue, history, and an ocean. Just my kind of thing!

Are you posting to pirategasm and I just missed it?

Yup, I posted three stories so far, and I'm working on more. The easiest way to find the stories is to look on my webpage at http://members.rogers.com/fajrdrako/stories.html.

As for those action figures.... If you don't keep an eye on them, they get up to all sorts of hanky-panky, and we all know it.

Hi Elizabeth! Yes, please feel free to friend me -- I've already friended you. We're friends! Whee! *g*

Yeah, I've been on LJ for a few months now.

I thought PotC might be right up your alley! And I find I've already read your stories, of course. *g* Very nice, especially The Wedding Gift. I'm rather partial to J/W/E, myself; I don't see Will's feelings for Elizabeth waning, or hers for him -- they were adorably in love -- but I do see them both as having quite the thing for our rogue of a pirate.

Action figures *are* bound and determined to get up to No Good. (Oh, just to let you know, LJ never emails people's responses to me, so I have to laboriously check back wherever I've posted a comment to see if I need to reply to a response. I've emailed them more than once, but they (LJ admin) don't respond. And, no, it's not a problem with my ISP, because I got all my responses just fine the last time I was a paid member. (grumble))

Good!

We're friends!

But then... we already were.

I thought PotC might be right up your alley!

Absolutely! I had no expectations at all beforehand.... But then it was so witty and clever and historical I was bowled over into Jack-Sparrow-love. I agree with you about Jack/Will/Elizabeth and I wanted to see them all sailing away together at the end of the movie. I'm not sure how to handle this in my fic, since I don't really want to write het (or semi-het) stories: I guess I'll handle it carefully on a case-by-case basis. (Thinking that Keira Knightley is gorgeous does no harm either.)

LJ never emails people's responses to me

Oh dear - how inconvenient. I hope they fix that.

Brand new billboard near my house, advertising the upcoming TTT release. Are you ready for a 20 foot high head shot of Legolas?
