As far as I'm concerned, the best bit of Torchwood news out of San Diego Comic Con, is that Russell T Davies plotted the story and is writing the first and last episodes.
This is what I was hoping for.
And James Moran, whose work I like (he's the one who wrote "Sleeper" and the BBCA Captain's Blog, with all the lovely Jack/Ianto bits) will be writing an episode.
I wonder who'll be writing the two other episodes. Dare I hope for another Catherine Tregenna script?

Date: 2008-08-03 04:14 am (UTC)That would be wonderful. The YouTube video also mentioned another writer who had done some other non-Torchwood work.
I think Julie Gardner said that there will only be Jack, Ianto, and Gwen left -- no Martha. Does that mean the rumours that Freema Agyeman infuriated the BBC by taking a role in a rival TV network's police drama are true?
But, OTOH, Gardner also said "We love to tease." And there's also Rhys...

Date: 2008-08-03 11:19 am (UTC)It is a fact that FA is signed up for the UK version of Law and Order, and it's likely that that will be clashing with the filming of Torchwood. But if TPTB had wanted her in Torchwood then they'd have signed her up earlier. And if they wanted her but didn't sign her up in time, well that's really their own fault. I certainly don't believe what the Sun is alleging i.e. that they had to rewrite the season because they couldn't sign her up.

I'm not sure how much I want her back in Torchwood, since I thought she was pretty much wasted in "A Day in the Death" and "The Walking Dead". There's no point featuring her if she's nothing more than an extra body.

Gardner also said "We love to tease."
They do, and they indulge themselves only too often!
Freema will be in Law and Order and really, the BBC - unless they make some kind of exclusive contract with her - can't dictate what roles she takes.

I haven't heard great things about the writing in Robin Hood.
