A British friend of mine writes: "According to my copy of Cult Times the new season of Dr Who will begin on BBC1 on Saurday, 24th March."

That's the second time we've heard this reported - it's looking good!

Yay!!!

Oh, and btw, the script for The Girl in the Fireplace - another ep I haven't seen yet - is on the final ballot for the Nebula award... *keeps fingers crossed*

How wonderful! I'll be very interested to hear what you think of "The Girl in the Fireplace". It's another episode that could be described as "different" - except that every episode is different from all the others and unique, but this is a little more so. It's really quite amazing. (Including the amazing experience of seeing the Doctor drunk! A party-boy! Woo-hoo!) I love some of the implications of it.

I think it well deserves the Nebula Award, I really do. Yup, fingers crossed.

Well it's Steven Moffat's work, so I don't doubt it'll be good!

Heh. Yeah. Good, yes. Until you've seen it, my lips are sealed. It is also... potentially problematic. I love contemplating its implications in terms of plot, theme, and character.

Not tonight. If for no better reason, just because I have some more eps to do before that (and it's already half past 10, and I'm still at work - just leaving though).

You'll get to it sooner or later!

Tonight I'll be watching the Torchwood episodes "Captain Jack Harkness" and "End of Days". We'll see if I get more perspective or insight on the latter.

In a way I don't care, because I get the joy of the last few minutes regardless.

Yay! enjoy!

I was going to comment that the info on [profile] tennant_love, the latest info was March 31... but I guess somebody brought the news to you sooner.

(Oh, and did you watch Recovery already? I'm not sure I'll get myself around to it before the weekend, as it's... sad).

No, I haven't seen Recovery, and yes, it sounds so very sad. I won't be able to see it for a while.

March 31. Looks to me as if they wanted March 24, couldn't quite make the deadline, and went for the 31st. Which is okay.

How interesting! I didn't think the script of Batman Begins was very good. Howl's Moving Castle was a wonderful movie, but its strength was in its plot (not the script per se, it was based on the Diana Wynne Jones novel, and she's a brilliant writer). And its beautiful Miyazaki art, and the music. I'd say it was probably the best animated feature, but not the best script. "Unfinished Business" was certainly a wonderful story - possibly my favourite Battlestar Galactica episode for a number of reasons, it was stunning.

So there are two incredibly good TV scripts side by side, Doctor Who's "The Girl in the Fireplace" and Battlestar Galactica's "Unfinished Business". Hrm. My vote would go to "The Girl in the Fireplace" because it was so beautifully different and original, and because Doctor Who hits to the heart even more than Battlestar Galactica, though just thinking about those two shows makes me realize what good writing is being done in television these days. Miraculously good writing. I'm not sure I've ever seen such quality writing on television before, and that's taking into account such shows as Firefly.

I already knew The King of Attolia by Megan Whalen Turner was on the Young Adult list, and I really hope it wins. I don't know what the other contenders are like but The King of Attolia is one of those great and memorable books - as are Turner's other two novels.

According to the Dreamwatch website.

The new series of Doctor Who will air from Saturday 31 March on BBC1.

The BBC confirmed the date to dwscifi.com after incorrect information was published in the official Doctor Who Magazine.

I'm just gonna go with 'end of March' and stop thinking about it until the TV guides come out or the Beeb start advertising it.

Since I won't be able to see it that day anyway, it's a bit of a moot point. But that doesn't stop me from being eager.

Ah-hah - I sense a contradiction. However, regardless of which it is, it's only about a month away!
