JLA Earth2...
Mar. 24th, 2004 07:20 amI didn't like JLA Earth 2. I find Grant Morrison's writing problematic; often very clever, sometimes witty, but often not very involving and often not very interesting. Loved his writing on Animal Man, but that was long ago and far away. With JLA Earth 2, I found myself thinking "What's the point?" and I wasn't sure. The characterization, on the whole, seemed non-existent here, except perhaps with one of the villains - a doppelganger of of Wonder Woman who is having an affair with a doppelganger of Batman.
Nor do I like Frank Quitely's art. (Hard to please, aren't I?) He has some great layouts and his scenes of space - the first page, for example - are among the best I've ever seen. But I dislike the way he draws people - and that's the most important thing.
