I was amused reading this illustrated commentary on the Creation Museum by John Scalzi.

Thing is, I can never really believe that anyone would believe in creationism. I read that they do. But it just never really strikes me as being possible that large numbers of people could be so stupid. Or that people with money and power would encourage it.

Watched Heroes "Four Months Ago" last night. If I don't comment, I'll forget my thoughts.... Ususally... )

Does anyone know what is happening at the corner of Bank and Somerset? In Ottawa?

When I was passing by to go to the Silver Snail this evening, it was blocked to traffic, and it looked as if things were happening at the Duke of Somerset, the building on the corner, the one under renovation, pending provincial approval. The most recent article I can find about it is this.

I was glad I was walking. Traffic was a mess.

Yesterday I was googling for a picture of something, and stumbled across a picture of a beautiful blonde actress. "Who's that?" I asked myself rhetorically, and clicked on the picture. It turned out to be an actress I thought I didn't find attractive. It turned out to be Sophia Myles, in Tristan and Isolde.

So what's the difference? Hairstyle? A hint of medievalism? Lighting? The photo itself?

In any case, I must watch that movie.

Every year People magazine lists "The 100 Sexiest Men" and every year I take a look. About half the time I like their first pick, half the time it's incomprehensible. Every year it includes a few guys I'd agree with, and many I've never seen or heard of, but would like to, judging by looks. This year I haven't, but I saw it listed on Yahoo! here.

So: Matt Damon is #1? I don't see the appeal at all - I find him utterly dull.

I looked at their speed-vid of the top 100 and recognized maybe twenty. Most of their picks seem to be Americans. I was pleased to see Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Milo Ventimiglia, both high on my personal list. Johnny Depp, yes. I was surprised to see David Duchovny still on the list. Patrick Dempsey - extremely attractive, but I'm not sure he has the charisma I'd look for. My own pick of the sexiest men alive, current top twelve:

  1. John Barrowman (from Torchwood, Doctor Who, musical theatre)

  2. Gerard Butler (300, Timeline)

  3. Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean, Cry-Baby, Chocolat)

  4. Jason Dohring (Veronica Mars)

  5. Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who, Heroes, Othello)

  6. Ralph Fiennes (King Lear, The Constant Gardener)

  7. Daniel Day Lewis (Last of the Mohicans)

  8. Nick Mancuso (Stingray)

  9. Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville)

  10. Rufus Sewell (Hamlet, Charles II)

  11. Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes)

  12. Eamonn Walker (Othello)

  13. Peter Wingfield (Highlander, Holby City)

This list is subject to revision at any moment.
